He Has No Hands But Yours

You know, when God does something great, He ALWAYS uses someone’s hands here on earth to bring it to pass. And it usually takes a lot of teamwork and cooperation. We often praise God for all that He does (rightly so) but we forget that for everything great that God does, there is a literal person, or group of people who are being obedient so that it can happen.

Just think of the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with 5 small barley loaves of bread and 2 fish in Matthew 14. There is no doubt that Jesus did this miracle, but if you look closely at the words of Christ, I think you will see that He was intent on using the hands of common men to perform His greatness. When the disciples realized that it was time for the evening meal, they quickly suggested that Jesus send the people away (interesting how quickly we rise to give God advice, isn’t it?). But notice Jesus’ reply in verse 16: “They do not need to go away you give them something to eat.” Did you get that? Before Jesus ever touched the food, broke it, blessed it, multiplied it…He instructed His disciples to handle this situation. It was only after they offered a litany of excuses that Jesus, Himself, took the food and multiplied it. But even then He didn’t hand it to the hungry. He gave the food to His disciples so that they could do what He had intended for them to do all along.

Anytime God does something great, He uses the hands of the willing to accomplish it. So the obvious question is, “What am I doing with my hands to participate in the great things God is doing in the earth today?”
